NEET-MDS 2025: The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has announced a significant change for the NEET-MDS 2025 examination. Starting with the upcoming exam, NEET-MDS will incorporate mandatory time-bound sections, marking a major shift aimed at enhancing the security and integrity of the exam. This change follows an earlier notification issued by NBEMS on May 4, 2024, which confirmed that this new structure will apply to all MCQ-based examinations conducted on a computer-based platform.
The decision to implement these time-bound sections has been made to address emerging threats and to ensure a fairer and more secure examination environment. Candidates will no longer be able to move on to the next section before the allotted time for the current section expires, a move expected to reduce potential malpractices and maintain the sanctity of the exam process.
Structure of the time-bound sections
The NEET-MDS 2025 question paper will be divided into two distinct parts: Part A and Part B. Part A will consist of 100 questions, with candidates having 75 minutes to complete them, while Part B will feature 140 questions, and candidates will have 105 minutes to answer them. The introduction of these time-bound sections means that candidates will be required to complete each part within the given time limit before moving on to the next. Once the time for a section has expired, candidates will not be able to modify their responses or review questions from that section.
Additionally, after the completion of Part A, the questions for Part B will automatically begin. This strict division is intended to streamline the exam process, reduce confusion, and ensure that all candidates face the same testing conditions.
Demo test and preparation for candidates
Candidates preparing for NEET-MDS 2025 will have access to a demo test to familiarize themselves with the new time-bound structure. This demo test will be available on the NBEMS website under the NEET-MDS 2025 Application Link webpage starting from April 9, 2025. The demo will provide a practical experience of the exam’s new format, allowing candidates to adjust their time management strategies accordingly.

Ensuring exam fairness and security
The introduction of these mandatory time-bound sections in NEET-MDS 2025 is part of a larger move by NBEMS to enhance the security and fairness of its examinations, including NEET-PG, NEET-SS, and other similar tests. With the increasing reliance on computer-based platforms, this approach ensures that all candidates are evaluated under uniform conditions, reducing the chances of any unfair advantage or irregularities during the exam process.
