Pahalgam terror attack: RSS chief Bhagwat visits PM Modi's residence

NEW DELHI: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat visited Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s residence on Tuesday in the wake of the recent Pahalgam terror attack, which left 26 civilians, mostly tourists, dead.
The meeting, confirmed by official sources, is understood to be in connection with the April 22 strike and carries weight given the RSS’s role as the ideological backbone of the ruling BJP.
Union home minister Amit Shah was also present at PM Modi’s residence.

The discussion between PM Modi and Bhagwat came hours after the prime minister held a high-level security meeting with defence minister Rajnath Singh, national security advisor Ajit Doval, and the chiefs of the Army, Navy, and Air Force.
It also followed a separate meeting with home minister Amit Shah, who is leading the government’s aggressive anti-terror response.
The RSS had strongly condemned the Pahalgam incident, calling it “an attack on the unity and integrity of the nation” and demanding swift action. “All political parties and associations should rise above their differences and condemn this terror act. Government should ensure all required relief and assistance to the affected families and ensure appropriate punishment for the people responsible for this attack,” the organisation said in a statement.
