Delhi’s EV offensive! 400 e-buses flagged off by CM: Benefitting areas, fare etc
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta flagged off 400 electric buses under the newly launched Delhi Electric Vehicle Interconnector (DEVi) scheme. The Chief Minister said Rs 9,000 crore has been allocated in the Budget to accelerate EV adoption, with plans to strengthen charging infrastructure and depot facilities. She also announced the addition of 2,080 more electric buses under the DEVi scheme this year.
400 electric buses deployed in Delhi: Key details
The new fleet will initially serve key neighbourhoods across East and West Delhi, including areas like Ghazipur, Vinod Nagar East, and Nangloi. Each bus offers seating for 23 passengers, with six seats reserved for women, and space for 13 standing commuters.
Commuters will also appreciate the affordability of the service — ticket fares range between Rs 10 and Rs 25, but women can travel for free. Buses are expected to run every 10 minutes, offering a regular and reliable mode of transport for thousands of daily riders.
The DEVi buses are also equipped with an Intelligent Transport Management System (ITMS) that includes features such as GPS tracking, real-time route displays, automatic passenger counters, voice announcements, and CCTV surveillance for enhanced safety. In addition, panic buttons, wheelchair ramps, and knee-down mechanisms ensure accessibility and comfort for all.
Addressing the public at the flag-off ceremony, CM Rekha Gupta underlined the government’s vision to build a world-class transport network in Delhi. “We are determined to make urban mobility in Delhi cleaner, smarter, and more inclusive. DEVi is a significant leap forward, offering affordable and environment-friendly connectivity solutions to our citizens,” she said.
