MU first merit list 2025-26 out: The University of Mumbai has officially released the first merit list for undergraduate (UG) admissions for the academic year 2025-26 on May 27, 2025. The merit lists for affiliated colleges such as St. Xavier’s College, Ramnarain Ruia College, and K.P.B. Hinduja College of Commerce have also gone live on their respective websites. Students who applied for admission to various FY (First Year) programs can now check their selection status online.This year witnessed an impressive turnout, with over 2.5 lakh students registering and submitting more than 8 lakh applications for a wide array of UG courses. The overall pass percentage for the HSC (Class 12) examinations stood at 93.67%, with girls outperforming boys once again. The pass percentage for girls was 95.31%, while boys recorded a pass rate of 91.45%.Competitive cut-offs at top collegesSeveral popular Mumbai colleges have reported high cut-offs across various streams, particularly for self-financed and professional courses. St. Xavier’s College, an autonomous institution, announced soaring cut-offs for its sought-after arts and commerce programs.For the aided F.Y.B.A. course, the highest cut-off for the general category (Others) was 97.40%, while Christian candidates needed at least 90%. Special category (SWD) students had a cut-off of 95.20%. Self-financed programs witnessed even steeper requirements. The F.Y.B.A. Economics Major & Statistics Minor stream required 97.80% for general applicants and 91.00% for Christians.Similarly, the F.Y.B.A. Psychology & English combination saw a top cut-off of 98.00% for general candidates, while Christian applicants needed 93.33%. The Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting & Finance (BAF) program cut-offs also reached 97.20% for the general category.Ramnarain Ruia College also released its first merit list, with competitive scores across its arts and science programs. She pointed out that the high cut-off of 90% indicates an increasing interest among students in courses that offer not just academic knowledge, but also real-world skills and industry exposure.She emphasized that Hinduja College is committed to preparing students for the future of business through a curriculum that blends theoretical concepts with practical application. According to her, the college focuses on integrating technology and nurturing ethical, job-ready professionals. Dr. Madlani also highlighted that this approach is in alignment with the vision of the National Education Policy 2020, which promotes holistic and career-oriented learning.Document verification and fee payment scheduleStudents whose names appear in the first merit list must complete document verification and pay admission fees between May 28 and May 30, 2025. Fee payment will be accepted only via the online payment gateway within 24 hours of approval from the college office, which will be communicated via SMS.Required documents include the original HSC marksheet, leaving certificate, Aadhaar card, pre-enrollment form, and, for students from other boards, additional documents such as a migration certificate and passing certificate. Reserved category candidates must also upload their caste, domicile, and income certificates.
