Maruti Suzuki cars get this major safety upgrade as standard: Details

Maruti Suzuki’s entry-level cars will now come equipped with six airbags as standard equipment. As part of this safety upgrade, the company’s Arena range will now benefit from six airbags as standard. It includes the likes of WagonR, Alto K10, Celerio, and Brezza. The decision marks a major step forward for Maruti Suzuki, which has traditionally been known for its budget-friendly models. This configuration comprises dual front airbags, side airbags, and curtain airbags.Front airbags, located in the steering wheel and dashboard, protect the driver and front passenger during a collision by cushioning the impact. Side airbags, positioned in the front seats, shield occupants from side impacts, while curtain airbags extend along the side windows to provide head protection for both front and rear passengers.
Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer (Marketing & Sales) at Maruti Suzuki India, said “With the decision to make six airbags standard in the WagonR, Alto K10, Celerio, and Eeco, we are ensuring enhanced safety is available for all”.This update brings the WagonR, Alto K10, Celerio, and Eeco in line with Maruti’s existing models like the Brezza, Swift, and Dzire, which already come equipped with six airbags as standard. Additionally, the cars are fitted with three-point seat belts for all passengers and seatbelt reminders to further enhance safety on the road.Maruti Suzuki has also included advanced safety technologies such as Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Hill Hold Assist, and Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) in these models.
