NEW DELHI: The Indian contingent secured six gold medals at the Taiwan Open international athletics championship on Sunday, achieving remarkable double podium finishes in the women’s 800m final and long jump competition.Vithya Ramraj, Rohit Yadav, Pooja, Krishan Kumar and Annu Rani claimed gold medals in their respective events. The men’s 4x400m relay team, comprising Santosh T, Vishal TK, Dharamveer Chaudhary, and Manu TS, secured gold with a championship record of 3:05.58s.Yashas Palaksha earned silver in men’s 400m hurdles, recording a personal best of 42.22s after missing the 2025 Asian Championships. Vithya secured gold in women’s 400m hurdles with 56.53s, her third-best time this year, gaining valuable ranking points for the World Championships.The Tamil Nadu athlete specialises in 400 metres hurdles, 400 metres and 4×400 metres relay. Her previous performances include 56.04s at the Federation Cup final and 56.46s at the Asian Championship final.

Rohit secured gold in men’s javelin throw with 74.42m. Taipei’s Huang Shih-Feng (74.04m) and Cheng Chao-Tsun (73.95m) took silver and bronze respectively.Pooja clinched gold in women’s 800m with a championship record of 2:02.79s, whilst Twinkle Chaudhary secured silver, clocking 2:06.96s. Krishan Kumar won men’s 800m with a championship record of 1:48.46s.
Annu Rani claimed gold in women’s javelin with 56.82m, ahead of Sri Lanka’s Hatarabage Lekamalage (56.82m) and Taipei’s Pin-Hsun Chu (53.03m).In women’s long jump, India’s Shaili Singh (6.41m) and Ancy Sojan (6.39m) secured silver and bronze respectively, behind Australia’s Delta Amidzovski (6.49m).
