Mercedes-Benz recalls GLC, S-Class, EQS, and AMG SL55 in India: Is yours affected?

Mercedes-Benz India has issued a voluntary recall for 30 units of its premium and electric vehicle range, including the EQS, GLC, S-Class, Maybach S-Class, and the AMG SL55 Roadster. The recall is due to a fault related to improperly reworked fuse boxes that could pose a fire hazard.According to a notice filed with the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), the affected vehicles may experience system failures linked to the faulty fuse boxes. These faults could lead to sudden loss of propulsion, non-functional instrument clusters, or failure of restraint systems like airbags. In certain cases, the malfunction may even cause a thermal incident, the notice warned.

The recall includes 16 units of the EQS electric sedan manufactured between July 19, 2023 and April 8, 2024. Additionally, nine units of the S-Class and Maybach S-Class produced between June 22, 2023 and March 20, 2024 are part of the recall. Three units of the GLC manufactured from September 9, 2023 to December 4, 2023, and two AMG SL units built between July 5 and August 28, 2023 are also affected.
Like other recalls of such kinds, customers of the impacted models will be contacted directly, and the necessary repairs will be carried out at authorized service centres free of charge.
