ASSEB announces HSLC 2025 results with 63.98% pass percentage

SEBA HSLC 2025 OUT: The Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB) has officially announced the results of the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) Examination 2025 today. The exam, which was conducted from February 15 to March 3, 2025, saw the participation of over four lakh students across the state.
Out of the 4,29,449 candidates who applied for the exam, 4,22,737 students appeared, while 6,712 were marked absent. A total of 22 results have been withheld and 101 candidates were expelled during the course of the examination. The overall pass percentage for this year is recorded at 63.98%.
Performance by gender and division-wise results
Among the students who appeared, 1,87,752 were male and 2,34,985 were female. The gender-wise analysis revealed that male candidates had a higher pass percentage of 67.59% compared to female candidates, who recorded a pass percentage of 61.09%.

Out of the 2,70,471 students who cleared the exam, 89,041 secured first division marks. Notably, 5,336 students achieved distinction, while 16,517 obtained star marks. As many as 1,68,312 students earned letter marks in one or more subjects. A total of 1,35,568 students passed with second division, and 45,862 with third division.
District-wise performance sees Sivasagar leading
Sivasagar district emerged at the top with the highest pass percentage of 85.55%, followed closely by Dibrugarh at 81.10% and Dhemaji at 80.64%. In contrast, Sribhumi recorded the lowest pass percentage in the state at 47.96%, reflecting a significant disparity in performance across districts.
Category-wise results show strong performance from ST (P) and MOBC candidates
In terms of category-wise results, students from the Scheduled Tribe (Plains) category had the highest pass percentage at 71.32%, followed by MOBC (70.78%) and OBC (69.64%). The general category students recorded a pass percentage of 62.45%. Other figures include ST (Hills) at 65.86%, SC at 58.56%, and Tea Tribe candidates at 51.89%.
Top performers set a new benchmark
The top three rank holders in the HSLC Examination 2025 have achieved outstanding scores. Amishi Saikia from Pragya Academy Senior Secondary School, Jorhat, secured the top rank with 591 marks (98.50%). She is followed by Saptarswa Bordoloi of Assam Jatiya Bidyalay, Noonmati, Kamrup (M), who scored 590 marks (98.33%). Anirban Borgohain, also from Pragya Academy Senior Secondary School, Jorhat, stood third with 589 marks (98.17%).
