Amid declining sales, Tesla lowers this model’s lease cost to just Rs 29,000/month: Details

In a move to revive sales momentum, Tesla has introduced a more affordable lease option for the Model 3 in the United States. Customers can now drive home a Tesla Model 3 Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive version for just $349 a month (approximately Rs 29,000), with zero down payment for a 24-month term. This offer stands out, especially considering that many other carmakers require heavy initial deposits for similar deals.
The Model 3 Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive offers an EPA-rated range of 584 km (363 miles) thanks to its 75 kWh usable battery pack. The car accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in just 5.9 seconds, and boasts a top speed of 233 kmph (145 mph). Its efficiency is rated between 16-17 kWh per 100 km, making it one of the more energy-efficient electric sedans in the market today.
Besides this, the Long Range All-Wheel Drive variant is also part of the lease program at $549 per month (around Rs 45,700), again with zero upfront payment.
Tesla’s push for lower monthly costs comes at a crucial time. The company sold about 3,37,000 vehicles in the first quarter of 2025, marking a 13% drop compared to the same period last year: its worst quarterly performance ever. Tesla hopes that the new lease program, offering lower ownership costs, will help boost its numbers in the coming months. With this aggressive new pricing, Tesla is clearly betting big on affordability to stay ahead in an increasingly competitive EV market.
Tesla’s entry in India
Tesla’s anticipated entry into India is gaining momentum as the company takes steps to lay the foundation for its launch in the country’s growing EV market. Tesla has refunded reservation fees to early Indian customers of the Model 3 and leased office space in Mumbai, Bloomberg reported. Recently, a camouflaged 2025 Model Y was also spotted testing near Mumbai, hinting at an imminent launch.
